Uplifting books for you and others

Uplifting books for you and others

We hope you're all keeping well during these extraordinary times.

In this time of uncertainty we know it can be difficult to keep a positive mindset. With this in mind we're sharing an extract from Terry Waite's book Out of the Silence and recommending some uplifting books for you to delve into.

We know that eBooks are a preference for many of you at home right now so we're offering 50% off all eBooks on our website (ends 25th March).

Finally, while all SPCK staff are now working from home, using online chat and video meetings to stay connected to our colleagues and customers, our warehouse is still operating and books are being safely despatched to bookshops and outlets in the UK and beyond as normal. Our website is still very much open for business and we are maintaining as high an order processing and despatch capability as we can. If you need any assistance please contact us via email and we will do everything we can to help. We are praying for you and your loved ones in these times of uncertainty.

Kind regards,
SPCK

Chapter 2: Evening

From Out of the Silence by Terry Waite

As I sit in the calm of the evening I am reminded yet
again that I am in the final stage of mortal life. I don’t
feel in any way morbid about this, simply grateful
that I am in good health and able to enjoy these latter
years. Across the years I have brushed with death
many times and in the years spent as a captive it was
my daily companion. I cannot say that I was, or am,
afraid of death for it is inevitable and a part of life
itself. We die and the atoms that constitute our body
are redistributed throughout the universe from whence
we came. Ashes to ashes. Dust to dust.
