SPCK Authors at United Breaks Out 2021

United Breaks Out is taking place on 29th July - 3rd August, and we're delighted to see SPCK authors taking part.

This year's event is online, and many people are gathering with their local churches and communities to celebrate the occasion. 

SPCK authors that are taking part this year include Lauren Windle, Genelle Aldred, and Rich Wilson. SPCK authors Ben Lindsay, Ruth Valerio and Simon Barrington will be taking part in seminars on New Wine Online. 

Lauren Windle is a public speaker and journalist, On 22nd April 2014 she got clean and sober from a cocaine and alcohol addiction and became a Christian five days later. She has a Masters in Addiction Studies, runs a charity recovery course for people struggling with addition and in 2018 gave a TEDx Talk about her personal story of addiction and recovery. Her debut book Notes on Love: Being Single and Dating in a Marriage Obsessed Church publishes this month. 

Genelle Aldred is a freelance newsreader and creative and communication consultant, and has worked as a journalist at many of the UK largest broadcasting organisations for over a decade. She was previously Head of Digital Strategy at Tearfund and Channel Manager at TBN UK. Communicate for Change is her first book.

Rich Wilson is leader of the Fusion Movement, pioneering new ways and resources to equip and train Christian students for a life of mission. He is part of the senior leadership team of Open Heaven Church in Loughborough. A Call Less Ordinary is his first book.

Ben Lindsay is a pastor at Emmanuel Church London. He is passionate about inclusion and wants to see a racially diverse church that better serves and represents the local context. Ben is CEO and founder of Power The Fight, a charity empowering communities to end youth violence. He has a background working in local government and the charity sector. We Need To Talk About Race is his first book.

Dr Ruth Valerio is an environmentalist, theologian and social activist. She is Canon Theologian at Rochester Cathedral and her home church is part of the 24/7 Prayer Network. She is the author of Planet Protectors, Saying Yes to Life, L is for Lifestyle and Just Living.

Simon Barrington is the Founder and Director of Forge Leadership Consultancy and co-founder of WeAreCompany, an organisation focussed on strengthening the quality of leaders’ relationships in organisations, charities and churches. He is the co-author, with Rachel Luetchford, of Leading: The Millennial Way (SPCK, 2019). He is also the co-author of Just Leadership, publishing September 2021.
