Notes on Love by Lauren Windle - publishing July 2021

Lauren WindleSPCK Publishing is excited to announce our latest acquisition, Notes on Love by journalist, speaker and recovering addict Lauren Windle.

Editor Elizabeth Neep acquired world rights to Notes on Love which is set to be released in July 2021. Perfect for fans of Dolly Alderton’s Everything I know About Love and Elizabeth Day’s How to Fail but who felt that they didn’t capture the nuances of what it means to date within church culture, Notes on Love is a humorous and heart-felt look at being single and dating for a generation of Christians wrestling with what it means to love and be loved.

About the book:

Though so much has happened in just a couple of generations to liberate the lives of single people in their twenties and thirties, being single in the Church can too often mean batting off questions about why you haven’t met ‘your other half’ yet or

else being warned to ‘guard your heart’ as if your next cup of coffee with a member of the opposite sex might just corrupt you completely…

Notes on Love shuns tired stereotypes and the second class-citizen status that follows so many singles around. Instead, it embraces singleness in its entirety: the hilarity, messiness and despondency that are often present in equal measure.

Far from being a ‘How To’ Guide, this book is an invitation to laugh, cry and know that even though your single, you’re definitely not alone.

Author Lauren Windle on the acquisition:

'Notes on Love is a project that's very close to my heart (yep - pun intended). The quirks of being single and dating in the church have long been a hot topic. But, as yet, I haven't found a book that fully represents the hilarity, messiness, and despondency that are, in my experience, present in equal measure. Far from being a "How to" guide, this is an invitation to laugh, cry and seethe with me as I look at church culture, the swipe-right phenomenon and some of my own, ill-fated experiences.'

Editor Elizabeth Neep on the book:

'Lauren's voice and writing are a breath of fresh air. Whether speaking to the Church or into secular culture, she does so with honesty, humour and humility. Like Lauren herself, her debut book Notes on Love does away with tired stereotypes and preaches we never practice and instead captures the conversations that are actually happening in coffee shops everywhere. Like all great books, this one will make you feel a little less alone whether you are male or female, single, coupled up or somewhere in-between.'
