I am delighted to announce that we have been nominated for the Digital Publishing Award, and Specialist Consumer Publisher of the Year (having received this two years in a row)!
Learn more about how our school assemblies website is helping teachers grab the attention and engage young people.
Today, millions of young people are facing pressures unforeseen a generation ago and I suppose it goes without saying this is one major problem (among many) that our society needs to deal with. As Christians, we can’t turn away from these issues, and I am proud that we are trying to be part of the solution. Whether it be helping the adults locked away in prison that cannot read and want to change their lives around, or the millions of people like you and I who face the daily struggles of doing the right thing.
In the era of technology, it can be quite easy for us to get distracted about these issues; but it never ceases to amaze me just how powerful a moment of prayer can be to my day. Last year, for instance, we released our ‘Thy Kingdom Come’ App to encourage more people to take a brief (but important!) moment throughout the day for prayer and reflection. It comes as no surprise to me as I think about this, that thousands of other Christians feel the same way, and why so many used the App.
Technology is often sold as being the root cause of many problems, but it can also help us solve many of them! You might remember my blog about how we’re running Assemblies Programs for teachers to run assemblies for children to learn important life lessons (that aren’t boring!). Well, we just couldn’t reach 50,000 teachers that use the resource without the digital medium. I was even more impressed to hear that our SPCK Audio Bible for Everyone, which was published over the last year, surpassed over 100,000 downloads last week too!
The list really could go on. We are pioneering the upcoming Homegroups, set to be the first national bank of materials for running homegroups. To add to the mix, we’re even building the ‘Ordinands App’ with the Clergy Support Trust, so that students training to be ordained can benefit from all our titles as part of their training.
