SPCK's Diffusion Project

Just think for a moment, though. If you grew up without that stability. What if you did not have the comfort of a regular home, schools or even parents?

Imagine what that must be like. Without supportive friends and a positive environment in school, education can be put on an indefinite hold. What is more, being unable to read often means a lower income (or even no job).

Some even turn to crime in their efforts to make things better. Instead, it just makes matters worse. Every week, prisoners growing up without these comforts tell us a bit about their stories. Learning to read in prison can be a way to escape from illiteracy and is a step on the way to a new life. Our society cannot forget the men and women like this – those leaving feedback on how books transform their lives. They do not enjoy luxury of literacy.

Being a Christian living in the 21st Century means helping these prisoners, for whom reading is a very difficult task, and for whom the Bible is inaccessible.

The Diffusion Project is a charitable project from the Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge.

40,000 other prisoners struggle to read. We would like you to hear more about ‘Nowhere To Run’ and the books we give to prisoners. You can do this by visiting us on the Diffusion website.
