"Teeny Mouse stories are real favourites in our house – stories with social emotional literacy themes, written in gently flowing text and beautifully illustrated. Your Greatest Gift is a lovely edition to the series, with a really important message about the true meaning of Christmas. A great message to share at a time of excess consumption and consumerism, reminding young readers not only of the importance of generosity, but also that a gift doesn’t need to be big, flashy or expensive. It’s the thought and the intention behind it that counts the most."
"[my sons (five and three)] also enjoyed another woodland-set story, Katie Piper's Your Greatest Gift, with its refrain that "though it's fun to get, it’s even better to give." I find that Christian children's books often have a heavy emphasis on our own actions (God wants you to behave well) rather than God's; so it was good to see an authorial note at the end about the "greatest gift of all" in the form of Jesus."
"Katie's message for families like her own is simple - you don't need a social media-perfect Christmas with loads of expensive presents. She tells this through her character Teeny Mouse, in her latest children's book Your Greatest Gift, who decides to take presents to her 'Grandmouse's' house. "At every point in the journey, she meets different woodland friends," Katie says. "One friend's cold and she gives a scarf and then when she finally gets to her grandma's house, she has nothing material left to give. "She realises the greatest gift she could give her grandma is a hug and love. And that's all her grandma wants from her."
Teeny Mouse is wrapping presents to take to the feast at Grandmouse's house. But on her way she gives her gifts to some friends in need. By the time Teeny gets to the party, will she have anything left to give to Grandmouse?
Join Teeny on this Christmas journey that reminds us that the greatest gift you can ever give to someone is your love.
Also in the Teeny Mouse Adventure series is All You Need, about finding courage and having faith in yourself when trying out new things, and Together We are Stronger, a celebration of friendship, diversity and teamwork.
