An extended conversation with God that ranges from complaint to joy, anger to love. Drawing upon a lifetime of such dialogues, Bill Countryman grapples with the reality of evil and loss, as well as hope and the possibility of fulfilment. The author's lyrical style owes much to the poetry of the Psalms, Job and the Song of Solomon, but moves freely in the realm of ordinary spoken English.
Dr Bill Countryman is Emeritus Professor of New Testament at the Church Divinity School of the Pacific in Berkeley, California, USA. His reputation was established by his classic Dirt, Greed and Sex: Sexual ethics in the New Testament and their implications for today (Fortress Press 1988, revised ed 2007), but he is also known for works of spirituality, such as Living on the Border of the Holy (Morehouse, 1999), and Forgiven and Forgiving (Morehouse, 1998). He writes occasionally for the Church Times.
