About the Author of The Big Bible Activity Book

Theologian, print and digital publisher, and freelance writer, Maggie Barfield has been connected with Light, Scripture Union's market-leading (UK) integrated all-age Bible curriculum for more than 30 years, initially as a freelance writer for youth and young children, and for the past 17 years, as commissioning editor and syllabus developer. Previously responsible for the children's publishing list for 0-11s, Maggie applies theological training and practical experience to issues of children's faith development and engagement with the Bible, across curriculum, devotional, fiction, non-fiction, print and digital, books and periodicals, encompassing several hundred current titles including The Big Bible Storybook (winner of the Christian Booksellers’ Convention Children’s Book of the Year Award 2008; and shortlisted for the UK Christian Book Awards 2009); and the Big Bible Challenge (shortlisted for the Christian Resources Together Children’s Book of the Year Under 12 category 2012). A qualified adult trainer, she relishes helping leaders and carers to nurture children’s own relationships with God.

Maggie is now the Product Developer for Guardians of Ancora, a compelling and unique digital environment for children, with faith formation and Bible engagement at its heart. With 20 years at Scripture Union, applying theological training and practical experience to all areas of publishing, Maggie is relishing the adventure of creating an innovative and immersive place-and-space where children can meet God through the Bible and prayer.
