The Gracious Calling of the Lord: Holy Land Pilgrimage

May 18, 2017 to May 25, 2017

In simple trust like theirs who heard

Beside the Syrian sea

The gracious calling of the Lord…

Bishop John Pritchard, Chair of SPCK and formerly Diocesan Bishop of Oxford, writes:

I hope you might be interested in coming with me to hear that ‘gracious calling of the Lord’ on a week’s retreat right be the Sea of Galilee. Jesus was brought up in Nazareth and lived most of his life within sight of this most iconic stretch of water. What better place, then, to reconnect with the living Jesus?

Usually in pilgrimages we have so much to see that we have to rush around Galilee in a couple of days and then head off to Bethlehem and Jerusalem. Pilgrims inevitably wish they had more time in Galilee – and this could be it! What I want to offer is time to linger, reflect and rest by the lakeside where Jesus spent three extraordinary years teaching, healing and gathering his faithful team together before turning fatefully towards Jerusalem…

Bishop John is a much loved author and speaker, who has a profound gift for guiding retreats and pilgrimages. This is the second of two trips he is running in May 2017, and SPCK is delighted to help promote them. For more details, do look at the brochure.
